We first met Rome when he was sporting the whale at the 2017 America’s Cup in Bermuda, which, as lifelong fans of the sport, we were proud to sponsor and even happier to attend. Rome is a world champion and America’s Cup winning professional sailor. He is also the son of champion sailor Jerry Kirby, who won the America’s Cup in ‘92. In fact, the Kirbys are the first father and son to have each hoisted the Auld Mug (the America’s Cup trophy). Native Rhode Islanders, they’re absolute legends in Newport, so much so that their picture hangs behind a bar in town where they’ve earned free drinks for life. More recently, Rome and his wife Galen welcomed a beautiful baby girl (Bailey) to the family. There’s a lot to celebrate, and we can drink to that!
